I have never run 225's. So i cant say much about that, But i do run 215/45/17 and just hit a pothole on the freeway a few days ago. Going 70'ish and it bent and broke my front rim and riped a hole in my tire . So if running 225's would make that less likely to happen. i would have def. run that size. I dont think the sidewall is gonna be that much taller, but you never know.

Im running a 225/45/17 and the ride is pretty nice. The diameter is a little larger than stock, as that's what I wanted with my setup. Fills the wheel well just a hair more, and makes for better traction in straight line launching. My wheels are light enough to make up for the larger diameter, at higher speeds.
