i was done work and remembered that i needed window washer fluid so i opened up the hood and filled up the washer fluid tank. then i noticed that the coolent reservoir tank only had about 1" of coolent in it.(i know for a fact that it was full on thrs)so luckely i work bescide an autoparts store. i bought some premixed 50/50 coolent and filled it up. after the car heated up i felt around the hoses. the coolent return to the reservoir tank was hot. but the lower hose on the tank was luke warm. The hose on the rad which is on the passenger side is warm but the hose that is closer to the drivers side is hot closer to the engin but only luke warm near the rad. that hose feals spungy and is very easy to squeese.there is no visible coolent where i park or anyware neer the engin. i checked my oil thinking that i blew a gasket but the oil is still orange/brown and the coolent is still green. is it normal for the hose on the driverside that connects to the rad to be spungy. and has any one else mistearly had 2leaters of coolent vanish with no trace? any ideas would help.

Since filling it up, has it gone back down?

Coolant reservoir doesn't smell like gas? (blown gasket)

Otherwise, if it's running fine, and the level is now normal, perhaps a bubble has worked its way through the system....

Anyone?

I had the same problem on my daughter's 95. Ford used plastic impellers for the pumps and mine was broke and did not know it until it overheated. Circulating coolant should make the hose feel pretty much the same at both ends. The loss of coolant probably is due to the coolant heating up and boiling off, but you are lucky not overheated yet. I got lucky on mine with no warped heads.

No hose should be spongy. They should all feel like solid rubber, firm.

Good idea to:
1: Replace that hose, (both upper & lower radiator hoses if they are same age)
2: Check that waterpump impeller
3: Have system flushed (especially if waterpump impeller broke off) Flushing might reveal a blockage.
