OK - I read through here when I had to replace the gaskets on the LIM and UIM due to the manifolds leaking air. It was unreal how dirty everything was especially the secondaries!
I found lots of very good advise EXCEPT for the fellow that had trouble with the fuel rail couplings. NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CUT THESE LINES AND PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER WITH HOSE CLAMPS AS SUGGESTED. You might get lucky and they will hold but if they do not they will spray gasoline onto the hot engine and exhaust manifolds and you will likely have a serious fire on your hands. Any fuel injected system is under considerable pressure which is why they have specially engineered couplings.....
Just buy the tool to remove the couplings - the small plastic circles in my experience work better then the "X" shape ones. You may have to pull on the coupling a bit to get it apart but it will come apart.
