Dunlop Super Sport Race is the way to go if you are serious about a summer tire. I'll just about guarantee I'm the only peron on this site that have them on their Contour, and probably the only one that's had them period. But I'll say, I've never felt a street tire do what this one does. Whether it be 3k rpm launches with the 3L, or flying around an off ramp, they stick like nothing else. They have a 60 treadware rating, so if you're looking for longevity they aren't what you want. I paid $115/tire for 225/45/17's.
If you're looking for something a little more affordable, you may look into the Falken ZE512's. Really soft tire with good tread wear. I'd even go on to say they are a better straight line tire than the BFG-KDW's that came stock on the car, with less road noise. I think I paid ~$100.00/tire for 225/45/16's.
Good luck with your decision.
