Cord that goes around your leg and attaches to your bindings in case you pop out of your ski's. Like $5-10. They are also called powder cords I guess.
From REI. $6.

Ah, ok... no i didn't have those, but they wouldn't have helped me as the whole reason I hurt my knee is because my bindings didn't pop... i got off on a run that went deeper than I thought and once I got way down into the trees the snow wasn't as packed and the powder was still a couple feet deep and I was fugged.
Oh well... off to "permanently damage the environment" on a snowmobile through Yellowstone... God Bless the Republican party!!!

dropped - a tip and went Ka-Boom. Batman style. Bummer. My first pair of skis had straps on them, pre brake days. I remember seeing a ski or 2 go all the way down the hill when I was a kid... LOL I ski. I tried snowboarding, twice. I'll stick with what I know that doesn't abuse my body and I can actually do well. Time (along with my knees, wrists and arse) is not a renewable resource. Keystone was one of the last holdouts on snowboards, but they wised up several years ago. I don't know of any resorts that still dis-allow snowboards. Its not good business accumen if you ask me. No skiing for me this year. Next year though, I'll be back (no pun intended).

That's basically the hardest part of snowboarding. The first 2-3 days/lessons. Lessons are HUGE, in case you didn't take them. I learned the basics enough to where I did not fall on my first full day of lessons, and haven't gone back since. I would love to, just can't spend the money on them. You can basically take lessons all the way to your absolute best, in whatever area of snowboarding you decide to pursue (alpine, slalom, carving, park, terrain, powder, backcountry).
The other nice thing about snowboarding is that once you do have the basics down, it can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be. There's just a bit of a larger learning curve than skiing, but it was well worth the time/ass busting to successfully convert, for me at least.

There are still a few, believe it or not, and they're some big names...
Alta (UT): "Alta is a skiers' mountain, Snowboarding is not allowed" Deer Valley: "No snowboarding please" Taos: "100% Snowboard Free"
