Who is a two planker wanker and who rides a wide board? Got my Burton stolen the Thurs. before Xmas. Just got my replacement last week. Had a friend tune it last night since he has all the stuff. I guess not really tune. Just applied 2 coats of wax, scraped and brushed it. Us CEGers in cold climates have to do something in the winter to satisfy the need for speed since our cars are put up. Getting all the equipment initially can get a little costly. Of course with anything if you shop wisely you can get the basics at a good price. Some pics from last night.

Good sites for tuning tips.

What did you get to replace your deck?

I tune my own stuff as well. Luckily the shop I used to work at allows me to use the stone grinder still so I can texture my base as I please and they let me get into the race wax (too bad that [censored] rots your brain if you smell it too much)

Sadly yesterday was +18 Celcius (that damn warm for you Farinheit lovers) and raining for the second time this season so I'm pretty much wrting off this season in Ontario.

'04 Burton Stash (Custom) 158. 1 of 500 made with that top sheet.

with
Technine Dominator bindings. They patented a new style toe strap. Only Burton and T9 hold the right to it I guess. Supposed to remedy toe pressure. Hope I like it because I'm stuck with it.

My setup is a little dated but still the sweet apple pie.

I have the Burton FL (F#*&ing Light) Project 157 wood mounted with the Burton X Base with carbon base and composite highback. I then ride the Burton Ruler boot from that year. Its too old to find photos.

Interestingly enough, the best conditions so far this season has been at Blue Mountain, ON (Dec 29th).

I was at Stowe, VT on Jan 2nd, and it was just brutal. Nothing but ice and bare patches -- and then it started to freezing rain on us!

Edelwise in Gatineau, PQ only had a hand full of easy runs open the week before Christmas...

Bad year for snow sports I guess. (The local sledders are crying for sure by now)

Yesterday's warm temps were really bizzare though eh? It's not unusual to see 2 or 3 degrees in Janurary on occasion, but here (45min south of Ottawa), it was up to 13C!

If those in the U.S. complain about the cold air coming down from Canada, can we complain about the hot air coming up from them?

I guess I'm a wanker then. I went out and spent $1000 on new skis and boot 2 years ago and have had them out ONCE! We are not getting any snow and the man-made stuff sux! This is what we have going on right now. It's 10 below zero outside and I can still see the grass! I can deal with the cold but give me some snow to play in PLEASE!

'04 Gnu Rider's Choice 162 Wide (I splurged on this, it's a hell of a board)

Burton Freestyle Bindings (decent for the price, I'm still a broke college kid!)

Crazy Creek Boots. (basically a Gart Sports sale item, but they have been surprisingly reliable, comfortable, and versatile)

I've been going up about once a week for a month or two, seeing as how we get ~5" every few days. Gotta love Colorado! Sorry all you other guys, but these mountains are absolutely amazing! Now who's taking a vacation out here to board/ski with me?

Oh and todras, I feel your pain. Had my board/bindings nabbed early season last year. Couldn't replace it until this season, but now I'm back up, just being super cautious of keeping an eye on my board.

Yea it was my idiotic mistake. I ALWAYS check my stuff in. I needed to shake the dew off the lilly so I figured no way would anyone grab it in 2 minutes. Must have had someone standing right by the doors ready to grab and go. I was flipping on fire. Ran out to the parking lot and looked at what ppl were loading in cars. Got some evil looks but I didn't give a rats ass! My homeowners insurance covered most of it and the board was about 5-6 yrs. old. The conditions were grea that night and I had only been there for a couple hours. Live and learn.

You must be near Cornwall then?

I'm a 2 planker myself, I have too much talent to waste it on a snowboard.
