You are 100% correct, PolloLoco.

Most SUVs are equipped with tires that have a serious bias towards on-road use. Every tire is a trade-off, and most consumers could not stand the ride or noise of a dedicated off-road tire.

I plan on upgrading the tires soon, as it has the original tires. I will be going with something more aggressive, the "street" tires are probably worthless in deep snow.

Those of us with the Explorer Sport models with the Premium package have P255/70R16 Monster Mudder type tires. Way more aggressive tire than most drivers will ever need.
