I had a 4-door 2004 F150 as a rental when the 6 was getting a few things installed. That said... it drives like a smaller truck. You're connected, the truck responds and communicates with you. I was impressed with everything but the 16 mpg, and the cheap interior in the XLT trim.

That said... A coworker of mine as an extended-cab, and she loves it. She liked the little shorter length in city traffic, and the rear seat is plenty big for child seats and everything. I wouldn't avoid it simply due to kids.
