$493.84/mo. for my mortgage. And I also have my taxes and insurance escrowed into mine. I love the fact that my living room is the size of some people's whole 1 bedroom apartment and I pay less than what they pay.
3 bedrooms 1 bathroom Full(unfinished right now) basement 2.5 car detached garage 1.3 acres

Its a 'real' house :-) 1/3 acre, ~2500sq feet :-) 4 bedroom, 2 living rooms with fireplaces, 3 bathrooms, huge laundry room we refer to as 'the dungeon'. Its in Burke too. I love the house, hate the mortgage :-). Yes and no garage....yet. Originally posted by Jeb Hoge: Originally posted by RTStabler51: Yeah fug you and you midwesterners cost of living. I miss that....

I would love to have but $400 in annual tax assessment. By this time next year, we'll be paying that tenfold.

Welcome to Somerville, MA.
We're actually getting a deal since they could get away with $2k/month.
That's pretty rough, is it a house at least?
My sister pays $2000 a month for a 2BR walk-up (5th floor) in Manhattan, and that is a good deal.

Haha, $1300 a semester for a 150sq ft room that I share with one other person. I guess you get what you pay for

I guess I'm lucky in that I've paid off my mortgage, and I'm living free except for the ongoing utility bills and taxes. When I did have the mortgage, I think I was paying around $500 a month, and that also included taxes and insurance. When I calculated how much I would pay out during the 30 year life of my mortgage, I was shocked. Being a tightwad, I decided that the mortgage company was going to have to survive without profiting from me, so every spare bit of money I had was invested in early payoff. I figure I bought the equivalent of a 30 year investment that paid 11.5% interest.

We pay more for our taxes ($3,000 for 1220sqft house) than we do our mortgage ($1,092 on $25,000)...and no our house is not only worth $25,000 that's for home-improvements.
