The problem I have with Wal-Mart is that every piece of White Trash, six toed, wife and kid beating person in my entire county seems to be at Wal-Mart all the time. I get so sick of watching people slap their wives and kids around in the store, and telling their kids to shut the [censored] up, and being like "honey, look I can get a carton of cigs for 36 bucks, go and put back some of that food, I want cigs".
However, I must say that the "White Trash" factor seems to be in certain Wal-Marts and not others. I have absolutly no problem going to Wal-Mart in Oxford. I think it is a fine place to shop, as long as you're not having to deal with people beating on their kids and the like.

I used to like wal mart, but now I dont at all... Not for the reason of "Destroying other companies" but moreso for their service, yes I will go there if I can get a product a lot cheaper. But I dont prefer to... For Example, I got 2 pairs of speakers for the contour from there for 55$ a pair, not bad... Considering they would have been 80$ a pair at Best buy. BUT they sold me a repackaged product, it was missing the warrenty card and wires needed for installation... So I took it back, they put me through hell, needed identification (for what reason I do not know) made me walk across the store 4 times. stand in line for 30 minutes while she waited for her manager to come by and type in a damn code so she could process the exchange... it was rediculious.

Actually, I shopped at Target quite a bit this Christmas season. It was really nice not having those annoying bells ringing. Go ahead and beg me for money, but don't ring a God damnned bell in my ear while you're doing it!!!

and to think, you probably could've gotten those same speakers on Ebay for $30. ive looked at their stereo section. They're great for their Sckoshe selection of wiring harnesses, speaker wire, install kits etc.. those are at good prices. as for speakers and radios, either they have absolute crap or they have bottom of the line ok stuff like Sony or Pioneer, BUT, their ok stuff is typically priced higher than it would be at Best Buy or Fry's etc... plus, who knows how many times the box has been dropped/kicked around by the 'tards that work there. as for the cheap POS Chinese stuff they sell... they sell a lot of stuff you can buy everywhere. you know, the big name brand stuff like Hot Wheels, Pepsi, Sony, PS2, etc... the ?-name stuff is the stuff you gotta watch out for. most of it is good as plastic storage boxes and junk cant really be f8cked up BUT, for Christmas, my wife and her brothers wanted to buy my mother-in-law an entertainment center for her living room. you know, the monsterous wooden kind that hold the tv and stereo goodies and dvds and what not. well, theyre cheap [censored] and were looking for something "affordable". i know from experience that for something half-ass decent youre looking at least at $200. they found one at Wal Mart for $129. My wife bought it and then showed it to me about a week later in the store, the floor sample. It looked incredibly nice for $129! ........ ....well, a few days before Christmas they enlist my help to build the thing to give to their mum, since i have built a million of these stupid "snap-tite" furniture pieces before. Let me tell you, this thing was such a POS! the instructions for this 3 piece unit was 3 pictures with barely any words. it came with pieces that weren't in the instructions and were missing pieces that were. the cheap-ass "wood" (read particle board) started breaking as we were putting it together! The pieces didn't fit right and the few that did, did not fit tight but showed some gaps. well, we put it up and it actually looks ok from across the room but Lord help them if they ever try to move it cuz that thing is barely holding together. Next decent earthquake and we'll be looking for a new one. as much as i hate Kmart I bought a 3 piece monster entertainment center there for $280 that is VERY sturdy and has survived 3 moves.

I will NEVER buy an open-box product at Wal-Mart for exactly that reason. I worked in the electronics dept. for little over a year and we'd receive returned/opened items and put them right back on the shelf at full price. Display models are "clearanced" at best 10% off normal price, Wal-Mart is extremely stingy about giving discounts.
I do work there (part time) and for the most part enjoy the people I work with, don't exactly love the job but it's a job. I will buy certain things there for the prices (of course with my employee discount ) but am extremely wary on huge purchases that I might want a warranty for, as well as anything open-box.
Because Wal-Mart is the closest retailer around, we get all sorts of people. I will agree with sentiments against "some" customers, but I'd say over 60% of the customers are decent. If I eliminated Wal-Mart and Target out of my list of places to shop, I'd be taking away a lot of choices for things to buy because there are not many other retailers of that type around. (Our Target is new, less than a year old. Wal-Mart singlehandedly took down Bradlees, which itself had replaced a local retailer known as The Fair that collapsed when Wal-Mart came in, K-mart, another local conglomerate known as Spags, and a whole host of other local choices.)
I will agree about the waiting for a manager to type a code, it is an incredibly stupid method for the amount of things that managers are required for.

i love shopping at target. the stores are clean, the staff is helpful AND THEY SPEAK ENGLISH, the checkouts are quick and when they get long a manager fills the void to keep the lines moving. they have everything wal-fart has, and usually cheaper. this week they had 12 packs of coke products for $2. that was 1/2 the grocery store and $1.79 cheaper than wal-fart.
the organization of the stores is better too and a lot of their exclusive products are designed well and made well.
and here's the real shocker...their margins match or closely match wal-mart! how can target have all of thse benefits with the same margins? probably by saving money from fewer lawsuits.

I've found that Wal-marts practice around here has been to open a store with tons of product, full staffed registers, and big opening sales.... and then a month or so after opening, let everything slide.
I think thier selection and quality has actually been in very rapid decline over the past several years..

reasons i hate them: 1) the first of the month welfar casses(or first weekend)were do they come from 2CHEAP electronics(and not the good cheap!) 3) how the prices go up once they close all the local competition!! Plus being the manager at a REX TV and always having to listen to people "uh-uh wal-mart has that same thing for like 3 million dollars less" my response "sure they do??!" " i tell you what, go to wal mart buy it,and i'll see you in 8 or 9 months when you need a new one"
