i know its not the best thing to do to your engine but the higher rps is were all the power is at

rag = high revs

I do occasionally, but I try not to do it too much. I've got almost 115K on the engine and drivetrain and I'd like to have it get me through to graduation in 2.5 years.

But yeah, rag=high revs=fun drivin'

my zetec still ran awesome at 133,00 miles and its been ragged on all day long everyday for 60,000 miles, and i never had to do a whole lot to the engine besides the timing belt and wires and plugs and a vct solenoid, wish the CD4E liked me more though...lol...and you cant say i drive like an a$$hole either because thats what u have to do to keep up with traffic with the ATX zetec!

Doubt it. The auto wont let you overrev it. As long as its within its limits. If it wasnt meant to be run hard, the factory would have limited it from the start.

I have my days where I run mine plenty hard, but I usually dont. I really dont have to run mine hard to get on the highway. An engine is happier working hard than easy.

The operating RPM range is idle to red line. Thats what it was built for. There should be no problem when operating this equipment in the recommended range. If the equipment is not to be operated in this range , the factory would have reduced it. Thats why the red line isn't 9000.
OPINION
I believe its not the fact that you go to red line - its the rate at which it is done. Always flooring it to red line will cause a problem.
