Yes, the HP rating dropped from 200 to 185. The single exhaust they used was more restrictive than the dual.

Also the Town Car, Grand Marques, and Crown Victoria increase 15 HP with dual exhaust from 220 to 235.

There are many other examples.

Lets not forget you see improvements with factory duals because they are just that, factory....

OEM mufflers and resonators are very restrictive, with emphasis placed on noise reduction. So of course going to duals will increase hp...

A well designed single system with aftermarket, non-dog leg mufflers and resonatorwill probably outlow the svt system, simply because you can get rid of the y in the back. Personnally I got duals for the sound (idle is great, sound in stereo...) and the looks. Always wanted two pipes, and the V6 Tour is the first car on which i could sorta justify it. But for performance to cost ratio, I bet you I can build you a single system that will outflow evrything but true duals, and cost 35% less...

just for the books, i have a single setup on my 95 SE with magnaflow and edlebrock with mandrel bends, 2.5" all the way back and a 2 in 1 out cat. i also have a rear svt bumper with one tip coming out. it looks good. but i think it flows really well and it will be able to be seen at SZ this year. if anyone wants to meet up before then to check it out, i am in toledo ohio about 4 miles from the mich. border.
