i have 96 contour gl 4 cyl atx. when the car was at idle the a/c was freezing when i give it some gas to drive the a/c gets warm. well tonight i was out driving and i got burning wire smell from somewhere in the engine compartment. i think it has something to do now with the a/c. any thoughts, suggestions, leads, or just shoot myself now?

If your A/C compressor has never been replaced, it could be at the end of it's life. The smell would be the belt slipping on a seized compressor.
