I was the one that started this post. Install was easy enough. I also had the CORRECT "new style" tach adapters with a fresh lot number straight from summit. Codes everywhere man...
The car will start right up and run like a champ after you reset the computer and will run fine until you turn the car off and then restart it...then you get the error codes for primary/secondary circuit malfunction for coils A, B, and C. I think that the cause of the malfunction is one of two possibilites: computer senses either too much voltage when it grounds each coil pack or the computer senses the multiple spark circuitry and thinks its an error. You will notice that one of the tach adapters can get very hot.
I started by calling summit to see if there was any alternate part numbers...there were not. I then started working with MSD, who seemed confident that they could revise the tach adapters to correct the problem. Nice company to deal with, but that wasn't the problem....
I was going to use the MSD DIS-4 to control timing and add spark consistancy and power as part of a complete nitrous buildup with the Venom 2000 nitrous kit...well about the time I was struggling with this issue, VenomSVT's nitrous kit malfunctioned, causing his spark plugs to disintigrate and almost caused catastrophic engine failure. My goal was to build a low 14 sec/high 13 sec CSVT which would necessitate a 125-150 shot of nitrous on the top end....to have this much nitrous without a dead reliable fuel system (which I was also going to upgrade) and timing/ignition system would spell disaster.
So, after being frustrated and seeing others having no luck either, I abandoned the project and just bought a car that would get me to the 13's without much worry...yeah, I caved, but boy oh boy the stang is soooo much fun!
Anyway, if Kaiser has gotten one to work that's awesome!!!! I know I loved the way the duratec revved and sounded when it hit the chatter box (low RPM rev limiter)...very cool mod if it could work...I just know that bnoon and Buckshot and myself have all had 0 luck with it...and judging by buckshot's unfortunate dyno day, I made the right choice for myself...my motor would have probably done the same meltdown when I hit the happy juice.
Anyway, here's a quick picture of the MSD installed if you wanted an idea about where to place the unit if you go with it....having it right there in the engine bay makes it easy to work with and tune...
hope this helps...let us know.
