Like Bnoon said, the MSD DIS-4 made the ECU throw a code that I haven't been able to troubleshoot yet. Well, actually three....codes P0351, P0352, P0353...Ignition coil/secondary circuit malfunction for coil packs a, b, and c.
Something else that is curious is that the tach adapters suggested by MSD don't work. Well, they not only won't work but they won't let the engine start with them hooked up.
I'll be calling MSD's tech line and working through the last remaining issues this week hopefully.
I'll wait till I get everything finalized till I post a full review or comment on any gains....don't really know the gains yet cause I am still throwing codes and I haven't put it on the dyno. We'll see.
I will tell you though that the soft rev limiter sounds KILLER. I'm going to like this project.

Let us know man, I never did get mine to work almost 3 years ago when they first came out, so it went back. Stupid tack adapters didn't work either... I wondered though if the white with black stripe wire that runs to the tack could be used for a signal??? I never tried this out on mine...

I'm getting no wierd tach variations, no misfires, both rev limiters work, and the car is still fully advancing timing despite the error codes (My car advances the timing by like 50* with or without the box..WOW!!) Apparently the tach adapters are not the correct ones for this application. I don't understand enough about what causes the error codes. If I knew systematically what would cause the ECU to throw those particular error codes, then I would be able to have a much more detailed conversation with MSD. I wonder if the ECU is throwing the error code because it is sensing a drop in voltage on the hot wire going to the coil? This thing has to work....it just needs some help.

Just got off the phone with MSD. They were actually concerned, and assured me they'd do what it takes to get rid of my error codes. The guy's name was Philip. He concurred with me that he thinks the voltage going to the coil pack is dropping below acceptible range (from tapping into the system with the msd box), causing the error codes to occur. I guess that the ECU monitors this as it grounds each circuit to fire off the correct cylinder. I don't know. Anyway, he was most concerned about my tach adapters not working. Basically, a tach adapter is merely a signal amplifier....it doesn't alter the signal, but just merely boosts what is already there. He told me to check the lot number to make sure they were higher than a specific number, and then wire them into the system and test them again. If they don't work, then I'll send them back to MSD for new ones or for revised ones. He seemed pretty confident that we'd get it running properly, without any malfunction indicator codes. I'll keep you guys posted in case anyone else besides me is interested in getting more spark to their cylinders.

Actually we're all just a bunch of voyeurs... Seriously, I've been following the thread very closely. Most of my experience with MSD and NOS has been on late model Mustangs (89 LX and 92 GT) and I can tell you for safe, realiable and effective use of NOS, a high power, multi-discharge ignition is manditory!........Keep up the good work. The only way the Contour Revolution will stay alive is by pioneers willing to experiment and take the next steps!!!
