First off, i searched breifly on my question. I have asked this before and not recieved an answer so i wasnt going to stay up all night searching through every thread on CEG.

With that being said i have 99 CSVT (88,000 miles). I have been getting a horrible idle. The idle being so bad that it threw me a CEL. When i first start the car or when i come to a stop. The RPM's will hang out around 2grand. Then fall to 1 and a half then to about 1grand. ! grand is what it usually idles at now. Now i put the cap in for the moose fix and i'm assuming that's the problem. But is that really what threw me the CEL and jacked up my idle?
If so i'm going to consider living with that stupid moose!!!

Get the code pulled; its really the only way to tell what's going on. Sounds like it could be the IAC or maybe a vacuum leak. I had to have an intake manifold replaced recently due to a vacuum leak that threw a CEL.

if you have a battery charger, hook it up to a low amp trickle charge for a couple of hours. Sometimes a battery with a weak charge will cause the idle to drop when slowing down, and I know you run subwoofers, so your battery charge might be a little. weak, see if that doesnt help it. An IAC valve on the duratec is an easy fix either way, just the part isnt the cheapest thing in the world.

Sometimes when you do the throttle hang cure you must reset the computer. It is also a good idea to clean the throttle body before setting the computer. I think this will solve your problem.

Replace your IAC valve.

I thought mine was my IAC valve too. It showed the obvious symptoms, and it also threw a CEL. But, a Ford guy scanned it, and it said it was the IAT (intake air temp.) sensor. He replaced it, and its been ideling good as new.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

I replaced my IAC and everything was great until it got cold. Now I have similar weird idle problems, 2k then nearly dying, then 2k, then normal. When the ambient temp is above freezing, it idles perfectly. Wonder if it's the same sensor?
