take the thermostat out and disconnect the lower radiator hose as well as open the pepcock on the radiator
once the coolant is drained you can run water through the system at the thermostat until it comes out the lower hose clean water, button it up and call it a day
that should work pretty good, otherwise take it to a place and they can do it with a powered system, might be the only thing that will do it better

ford shop manual is better, it literally tells you how to take the car completely apart and test everything along the way
as for the tank, you can try running water through it or some sort of cleaner, otherwise there isn't much that you can do
as for a shop, I have no idea, maybe $30 to $50 depending

If you want to do a real full system flush, you need to back flush into the heater core.
Do a serach for "flush tee install" there have been 2-3 discussions about a full system back flush.

the reservoir tank is held on by a couple screws. take em out and take it out. You could try flushing it out with some bleach. let it sit than flush it out.

Have mine flushed....along with the trans fluid. Don't even want to attempt to flush it myself....just lazy!
