i have a 99 xlt with 112k on the clock that has done me well enough... dropped a tranny at about 50k, dealer replaced for free (we know EVERYONE at this dealer), but other than that no big problems. I like the SOHC 6 b/c it has the 5-speed tranny, and TMK the v8 only comes with the 4speed. Niggling problems are the rear wiper going out, problems with the cd player, and the overdrive off button has never worked... been in for repair 4 times and every time it works for about a month and quits... we finally quit fixing it. tranny is still a clunker, but 4wd works seamlessly, engine runs strong (but with crappy mileage, as stated above) and its kind of fun to drive! definitely narrow, so it shakes a bit in stiff winds.
I'm sure there are better options, but this isn't a bad one by any means!
(we also had a 95 that ran to 144k)
