Trying to sell my snow tires in classifieds (http://www.contour.org/classifieds/classifieds.php?t=1&c=3) , got this email, quite generic, item not mentioned at all. So should i try to get a fake check out of him ?

Maybe this guy is FOB and has terrilbe ingrish.

It's way too stupid to be a scam, unless a subsequent email comes saying that he'll pay you $10,000 for the item and you send him the item and $9990 back.

sounds way stupid but it still has many of the words used by those clowns. ignore it and see if he emails you again. the scamsters never email you again unless you respond to their initial bait.

here's an one of you computer gurus develop a nigerian scamware program. i know id buy one. im sick of these damned idiots. lately ive been getting the one in which the guy would like to buy [insert item] for his son studying for his masters in africa. WTF?

i emailed him back asking is it's a scam

May be he can clarify it.

I bet it's a scam. I never email them because they send phishing emails. If you get an e-mail that looks like it is from ebay or paypal telling you that you need to confirm your account, don't click on the link in the email. They use that scam to get passwords and credit card information.

I e-mailed one of those guys back asking them if anyone ever falls for that. I got an e-mail back saying "falls for what?"

Here is one I received today:

Ha ha! Two different names at the same residential address. Maybe they're gay lovers living together, but I think that it's an obvious scam. Man I should drive down there and check this place out, like I was thinking. See what POS lives/inhabits that place.
