I just checked my car. When the disabling lever is switched on the trunk latch in my car, the trunk still opens with the key fob, but not from the release lever by the driver's seat.

That may explain part of the difference.

It didnt work from the beginning though, but I am almost certain there has to be a solenoid to power the trunk release. I cannot find one in my CSVT. Is in the glove box?

I would like to find it so I can rig up a manual release button and then add it to my transmitter.

I do have the remote trunk opener. When i use the remote i can hear the solenoid to release the trunk.
But when you use the latch on the driver side of the seat you don't hear any sounds, and it still unlock the trunk.

So it's probably electric for the remote opening and mechanical for the latch.

Nic.

The release solonoid or motor is in the trunk lid near the trunk latch.

I apologize, I was wrong
I got my old fob out (ironically it still panics, locks and unlocks)
It made the clicking noise from under neath the glove box whenever I hit the trunk release after I switch the trunk switch from mechanical to button release.

Now heres the problem, do I have to replace my solenoid or motor or what?
I am going to go see if I can remove the motor and clean it up or something
Thanks again.

I would guess that the release solonoid isn't working. Start by making sure that you are getting power to it when you push the button on the key fob. If you have power to it and it has proper ground but doesn't work you will need to replace the solonoid. If you don't have power to it, you will need to trace back to the relay and find where the power was lost.

I took my voltage meter out there and am getting full power to the solenoid. It is bad. So should I try to get one out of a junk yard. I went to Ft. Worth and they just delivered a 98 Red SE there (I got a headlight and front grill chrome ring for $25.00 barely used) and I am sure it has a solenoid in the trunk. Or get a new one from Ford for ??? dollars?

Thanks
