Nope, I'm paying the $30.00 yearly. You guys can pay the initial $160.00 setup.
That way I contribute every year and Lance will have nothing but mad respect for me! laugh

Maybe even make me a admin so I can ban Perry! laugh

I'd just like to add guys, we used to use ikonboard, but with a lot of traffic it became very unstable. The forums used to crash almost daily, and there wasn't the support like you get with infopop. They might have got their act together, but my site, personally I wouldnt use ikonboard.
Vbulletin I have never used on the other hand.
BUT, I also agree with lance, UBB is poorly written, the last few versions I have been having a lot of problems, corrupt member files, search files etc etc, but the support is bloody good.
Tough decision!

Yeah, with the exception of a few smaller boards, most seem to favor the vbulletin software. It has some nice features though. SVTPerformance uses it and I know a few of the head web-masters from there frequent here too, so there will always be a wealth of knowledge on hand for the troubling times.

As BBorges said, as long as you keep it clean, i.e no signature photos or avatars, it will all be good in the end!

I also fully agree with Krafty's "pseudo-rant". I too judge people by there number of posts and if turned on, their ratings. If it came down to doing a transaction between a person with 2 stars, and 100 posts and someone with 4 and 1500 post, which would you choose?

So I'd like to see the post counts transfer too. smile

The only thing I can really say for Ikon is it look slightly cleaner. Otherwise vbulletin.

Vbulletin can handle the heavy loads, for sure.. A certain board I'm on has 32,000 users and has never had a problem.. And the bandwidth they're using is just insane smile

The program's owners (like our own Lance) can determine how to make the program look to us users. That's why we have this light-blue / grey theme going on. I've seen some boards even, that use the default UBB setting (bright orange / white / black???!).

Um, I voted for Ikonboard; can I change my vote? I've seen more examples of vBulletin and like it more now.

What does VWVortex use ??? I like their site, they seem to have a lot of features that are useful, instant messaging & an online notepad being two that I would use.

Do either of them have the feature to allow you to subscribe to a thread you have replied to?
So that way you dont have to run through the threads trying to find that post you replied to.You would just get an email with a link every time someone posts a response, weither you started the thread or not.
Like ANANDTECH .
I really like that feature.Ill throw in some money for it too. laugh
