If you have access to an older AGP card, try that in there and see if boots up.

Boot the PC with the case off and visually check if all the fans spin.

Do you get any BIOS beeps at all ??

You might, possibly, be on the right track with the power supply output. Although 250w should be fine, you may need a little more. When you switch your PC on there might be such a draw of power that it is too much for your PSU (remember 80% efficiency is probably what you get). This would result in not very much happening other than fans spinning, and HDD powering up. If this is the case, then your motherboard should limit start-up to just the accessories. Although not overly common on PC's, it is a possibility.

It could also be that the card is not functioning. When you say you get no signal, do you mean your monitor is telling you this (as I presume it will), or that it is just blank.

Check your motherboard's BIOS for settings. Also check if BIOS updates are available.

Your card could well be damaged, or simply non-functional. Personally, as it's brand new, I would just swap it for a new one!

Also if you have have a RAM upgrade, try removing the newer one. Sometimes the timings on certain RAM chips can cause issues with AGP, again rare, but possible.

If you get no BIOS beeps though, I would imagine that it's a power problem.
The initialization sequence is > motherboard & devices get power 1> AGP/VGA initialzes 2> BIOS loads to memory 3> BIOS test 4> Boot sequence.
Your BIOS should beep at stage 2, so if you don't get this beep, it's probably power. If the card is 'dead' then you get multiple BIOS beeps. If the card's output connector is bad, then it will load as usual, only you wonn't see anything, but you will hear normal noises.

Hope this helps.

no bios beeps at all the monitor jsut tells me that there is no signal from either output(when I try either one) and the computer just seems to run/spin. The activity light stays on and nothing else happens. ANyway I think that a new power source can't hurt, most computers come wiht cheap ones anyway. I'll make sure that I bring the card in and see if it'll work in one of the comp usa computers

One thing you can try right now is to disconnect power to everything except the core components, ie., all optical drives, floppy, non-os hard disk, card reader, NIC,.. See if that allows your computer to boot up. If it still doesn't then try the video card on other pc. In the BIOS, besure to allocate 0Mb to shared video. With only 256MB you need everything to run it correctly. GL.

I;ll try disconnecting the periphreals tomorrow

AGP apeture size should be same as the memory size on the video card. I run 128Mb on my video card thus the apeture is set to 128Mb. This does not take away from your main memory. GL.

The way Emachines told me to turn off the integrated video was to go into bios and make sure that the init display first setting in integrated peripherals was set to AGP.
They also told me to uninstall it in the control panel. This should all be done automatically anyways. I got the same result with the computer no matter what way I tried.

Well got a new power supply (Antec 400) I know way too much power but I figured that it'll stick with me when I build a new computer in the next year or two (hopefully anyway). Still no luck. The fan is now turning on the card but I guess I've been unable to fully turn off the inegrated card via bios. All that happens is the computer just stays on, doesn't boot up at all. I'll be taking the card into Comp Usa tomorrow hopefully and see if they can get it to work in one of their computers. Any other suggestions?

This may be incredibly simple, but make sure your card is pushed in the whole way. So you say the computer doesn't post (power on self test) aka the beep? I hope nothing is fried!! At this point, if the card is seated properly and still no post... have it looked at =) Good luck!

Oh, btw the way that antec psu is nice. I have a antec True480 . Its a nice supply, quite and plenty of power. SATA + A64 + Raid + overclock = powerhungry!

What model is it? There should be a way to disable the onboard video, and as everyone has said it wouldn't hurt to try another card in the machine, or the card in another machine.
