Dude, before you go to that trouble, just run the wires from the rear dome light over to the driver's side of the roof, run them forward above the doors, and to the A-pillar. Then, just splice the wires into the front dome light wires where they run up the A-pillar (and then over to the front dome light.) That's how the factory does it. I just pulled the rear dome light wires fron the junkyard car and ran them like they were in the wrecked car. If you're careful, you can even pull out the wire clips to hang them back on. Having a moonroof was no problem.
There are three wires, always hot, time delay, and ground. Pull the front dome light out, check colors, and find and splice into the correct wires near the A-pillar. If you pull the harness out with the dome light from the junked car, you should have the correct color codes to look for right there. (They may have changed colors, I don't recall for sure.) HTH.
