Well I put this in troubleshooting but I think you guys are better...maybe you can help.

I was driving yesterday for about 2 miles and I lost all gears simultaneously.

I pulled the shift boot and the cables on that end are all attached ok.

I don't know if this means anything, but when the car is turned off I can put the clutch in and shift into any gears I please. Once I turn on the car if I put the clutch in I can't shift into any gear whatsoever.

Thoughts? Comments? Ideas?

p.s. - this all sucks since I just dropped a ton of cash on paint job and struts/springs.....

maybe just sell me the car? hmm

sounds like a problem i had when my svt only had third and forth gear. i don't know what for did to fix it sorry

Sounds like you sheared the bolt in the shift tower to me. Look in the Transmission forum to see if your symptoms sounds like the ones that other people have had.

Some people have been lucky in that they were able to unbolt the tower and the sheared bolt was sitting up top so they could take it out. But if it dropped into the case you will probably have to tear the tranny apart to get it out if you can fish it out with a magnet from through one of the drain holes.
