if you are talking about the crank pully you need to us a puller to get it off
if you are refering to the water pump pully, lossen the bolts before you take the belt off
I can understand the cost for fixing over value, but if you like the car and plan to keep it even longer I would make the repair as there should be alot of life left if you have taken care of the car
