Well give the Gentlemen a cupie doll. Puller of the timing belt cover. Belt is very beat up. Lets not even talk about the lack of tension. After 251k miles, I'd say its time to replace it. Not broken just really streched out. I then pulled of the valve cover to check the position of the cams. Looks like the rear cam jumped 1 maybe 2 teeth. Add the play in and I think we found our problem. Thanks for the help but I need to ask for some more. Last summer I wanted to replace my waterpump as a preventative measure. After 4 days of mucking about I had the valve cover off, starter out to lock flywheel, serpentine belt removed, upper engine brace out, and was trying to losen the lower pully to get the lowest piece of the timing belt cover off. I borke 2 elbows trying to losen that damn thing. Finally gave up and reasembled everything. Any hints to get that lower pully off? My mechanic quoted me 1400 to replace timing belt. Car is barley worth 500.
