Today I finally got a chance to get a custom exhaust for my car. I had the guy at the muffler shop put a 2.25 custom pipe with a high flow resonator magnaflow part #10425 round. As for the rear muffler I used a mirror finish part number 14830. At first the car sounded good from the outside but inside it was droning really bad at idle with the a/c on and at low rpm. But at high rpm it is not that loud and at 60 mph and up the car sounds fine like a nice sporty sound. Do you think it might of been because I used the round straight through resonator from magnaflow that is causing it to drone reaaly bad at low speed???

Thanks

Upping the pipe size will do that. Plus Magnaflows are really deep sounding. That's the price you pay for performance.
You could quieten it more buy adding another resonator if you want.

I just had one of the rear mufflers on my Mondeo removed yesterday, and while I was there I made some enquiries into replacing the stock resonator. I was advised to get a resonator that has on open chamber in the middle of it. Apparently these work really well at stopping drone and the HP loss is very minimal compared to a normal res.

A place here in Australia custom makes them (Marathon Mufflers), but no doubt other companies make similar muffler.
