This is a tough one.
On one hand, you have a neighbor shooting a large number of deer and leaving them to rot. It tells you something about the person you are dealing with. If he was cleaning them or at least disposing of them, I probably wouldn't do anything. I doubt his family is starving because if they were he would harvest the deer.
On the other hand it is usually best to talk to your neighbors first when problems arise.
If my neighbor was pouring motor oil down the storm sewer I would probably report him immediately. If I talked to him about it he may just make sure I didn't see him do it again.
I'm not sure what I would do with this situation, but I'd probably report him.

Maybe your neighbor is thinning the deer population because they are eating his crops. What kinds of crops does he grow? My neighbors grow hay, soybeans and corn.
I can't imagine anyone being so cruel as to kill animals just for killing them. I get attached to animals. My neighbors raise cattle and I thought about doing that. I know I would get attached to them and they would be like pets.

ok, how does, what this jackass feeding his family have to do with killing scores of deer and letting them rot in the field you dumbsh1t. you are the ignorant POS that has absolutely no idea what you are talking about. please try to be a little more careful before spouting your BS on here. it is pretty obvious to me that the guy he is dealing with has no reguard for the law or any common decency, and jed going to try and deal with him will only lead to more problems.

It's called natural fertilizer. The decomposition will return nutrients back into the soil.

LMAO it's pretty obvious the only one spouting off ignorantly is you. How does killing deer help his family? Well, as was stated above, the guy has a farm. Now a farm can be used for many things, two of which are the selling of what you produce, or the consuming of what you produce. Both of these benefit his family.
Second, when you are unable to make a point without calling me "an ignorant pos" that has no idea what I am talking about, it shows your very own ignorance better than I ever could. Seems like you are the only one that needs to stop spouting ignorance on here like you are.
It might be obvious to you and your one sided viewpoint that this guy has no regard for common decency, but then again, I wonder what makes you so well qualified to speek on the points of farming? Have you ever dealt with farmers, guns, deer, or anything that you propose to know so much about?
I am not sticking up for the guy. The very least he needs to do is to bury the animals.
How confronting the guy rationally is going to cause more problems than having him arrested and fined BIG TIME is beyond me. Most farmers are down to earth people, and won't fly off the handle if you talk to them with respect.
At least JED is the one dealing with this and not you; you probably would get your house "accidently shot at" if you lived there....

I talked to the man today. Told him I was concerned about people coming to my home and seeing all the dead animals. A very uncomfortable conversation. He said he had not been out to that part of his property in a long while but that when he found the time he�d go take a look. He explained that sometimes poachers have been a problem and that sometimes people just go poking into stuff that�s none of their damn business. I complimented him on his fine farm and expressed my desire to be a good neighbor. Well... he didn�t waste any time. There was a younger man (his son?) on a tractor with a front loader out there no more than an hour later. All the dead deer are gone and so is the tent. I must have struck a nerve. Unbelievably perfect weather today.  As far as I am concerned this is now a "dead" issue.
