I've never seen deer meat (venison) for sale. Venison has a very fine grain texture with almost no fat. A lot of people don't like the fine texture of venison.

ok dumb [censored]. 1. get rid of the salt lick, it is a really great way to spread CWD. 2. killing deer on pivate property is not legal out of season and without the proper license. 3. call the sheriff or your local DNR asap. this POS needs to go down.
i have hunted for years and have never heard of this type of behavior before, thank god.

You mention "farm." Do you mean he actually farms, as in grows crops?
Don't know VA laws, but in WV we can get "farm permits", basically open season on deer on the property, if they have been destroying crops.
Still, I would never leave game to rot. Most hunters are ethical and would agree.
Everyone who said "game warden", whatever you call them in VA, is correct. But, I agree, this could lead to a very nasty dispute. I know some backwards unstable SOBs that would not hesitate to physically harm you over something like this.
Be cautious.

Unfortunately, I have. It's the .01% of asswipes like that that give hunters a bad name in the eyes of those looking for a reason to hate hunting.

I would agree that killing and leaving them where they fall is pretty messed up, but I wonder why the guy is doing it?
While you might enjoy watching them walk through the woods, deer can become pests very quickly. If they are eating his crops, destroying his lawn, chasing his pets, etc. I can see him wanting to get rid of them. Like I said though, leaving the rotting bodies laying there is just asking for disease.
That being said, if you know that he is a reasonable person, talk to him at first. Tell him you are disturbed at seeing the dead bodies every time you drive home, and that it's asking for disease. I would be real careful about ratting him out, for such a violation can bring prison time for him. Sending your neighbor to prison for a month or two is a great way to get a huge fued going on. Remember, you are using his property as a driveway. I know you have a right to it because of the 50ft easement, but you still have to respect the guy enough to confront him before you go to the police/gamewarden/etc. He may just tell you why he was doing it, it could very well be a good reason, and he might stop doing it if he knows you are seeing whats going on and its bothering you.

Yes, he grows crops. I don't know what kind. He also has a herd of cows. My father has a lot of experience with farming and explained that deer can be a real nusaince. Tonight, driving down my private road I spotted three deer (live ones), one on his property, two on mine. The woods around here are thick with them.
I agree that neighbor disputes can easily become unbearable, even dangerous.
Hey Mikey Boy, this â??dumb [censored]â? does not have a salt lick. I would have done a little research before buying one and pretty quickly learned about â??chronic wasting disease. I think calling the sheriff on this man is not the best way to make an introduction. My house is at least a quarter mile from his pond and sits in the middle of twelve mostly wooded acres â??? meaning that I CAN actually choose to ignore what my neighbors do.
Until I put in my road, probably no one except the owner ever saw that pond and meadow. As gruesome as it is, in his mind itâ??s just a way of handling pest control.
The most aggressive thing I think Iâ??ll do is politely ask him to bury his â??kills.â? Maybe heâ??ll move his killing somewhere less public.

I'll be damned if the state is going to tell ME what I can or cannot kill on MY property!
