thanks guys.....I miss the car a ton already.....just something about 'em. And to think, I don't even like Fords . Heheheh.

Yeah the car does not visually look that bad, but when you start adding up the cost of fixing, it adds up to a lot. I have a guy coming to give me an estimate on fixing it, so I'll know more after that, but it surely doesn't look good, like you said.

FYI, in the classifieds there is a guy looking for a totalled contour to get the trans and a bunch of plumbing/ wiring out of. If your car is totalled it might be a good fit for this guy. Worth checking out. It's listed in the Cars wanted area on the CEG classifieds.

but when the car is totaled, doesnt the insurance company take possession and cut u a check? or will they give u a check and just give u a salvage title?

Well typically they will cut a check for the value of the car and take it for salvage. Or you can request to keep the car and they will cut you a check less the salvage value of the car.

Yes, but in the case of this car, he doesn't have collision insurance so they won't do anything for him (most likely).

In this case yes, if there is no collision, then you do not get a check, but they also do not take the car either.

Sorry to hear about your loss.... if you are looking for another contour, I am selling mine, and I am in maine, so it isn' that far away. It is in great shape, I just gotta go to school, so it's gotta go.
