Battery replacements, at least for the Toyota Prius, are guaranteed to last around 250,000 miles if not abused. Even then, replacements for these batteries is hovering around $1500. Hardly what I'd call inferior.

i am the last person to ever consider buying an accord or a prius...that said when i saw the add for the accord hybrid i was impressed enough i reconsider my thoughts, which remain unchanged, on the car. you get a car that is roomy enough for the wife and a couple kids, has enough power to get out of its own way, and still gets almost 40 mpg(epa est)which in the real world likely means mid 30's. of course there is the risk of buying a niche vehicle which in all fairness is exaclty what these hybrids are. if you are looking for a car big enough for the family, enough power to satify the guy in us all and still get the mileage of an ecomony car then this just your ticket.

I have to admit it caught my attention and I even stopped by the Honda dealer to take a peak! The standard Accord ATX V6 does 0-60 in 6.6 sec and the Hybird does it in 6.7 If I recall thats a bit quicker than a stock CSVT. Too bad we cant get the Accord Hybrid in the more attractive coupe and with a stick! Due to their newness and being unsure of the resale values I think I would lease one long before I would commit to owning one. Besides I dont know how keen I would be on modifications other than say a K&N and some wheels. If it ever becomes a couple instead of the fugly sedan I may be biting!

The Prius guaratee is 8 years or 100,000 miles and the replacement cost (with labor) was quoted at $2800 from Toyota.

Time will likely kill these batteries before mileage, much like a car or a NiCad/NiMH/LiIon battery.

I test drove a '05 Civic hybrid for grins(My wife wants a Prius, but you can't even find one in Texas)...and I'm not goona pay 20k for a '03 with 40K miles. I was really impressed with the way the civic hybrid drove. I could not even tell it was a hybrid except for the display showing all the functions. I might consider leasing an Prius for the wifey.

your joking me right? how often do you replace deep-charge battery? i think the saving of the earth, and money in my pocket for fuel speaks for itself. why the hell would financial fat-cats want me to save money on fuel?!

Look at the other hybrids out there that are really slow that still couldn't beat his CRX in MPG. Hell, even my old Mazda 323 got 40 on the highway. More than 10 years has gone by since he had that car and I haven't the great value of hybrids yet.

...the accord can carry more then a carton of cigaretts, too, unlike a CRX
