your joking me right? how often do you replace deep-charge battery? i think the saving of the earth, and money in my pocket for fuel speaks for itself. why the hell would financial fat-cats want me to save money on fuel?!
These batteries are considered to require replacement about as frequently as you replace the battery in your car... about every five years. This may be outside of the warranty if you drive a lot (and those are the people most likely to benefit from a hybrid).
Saving the earth is a matter of personal value, but not something that can be quantified into a financial equation.
The money in your pocket for fuel is offset on a time valued basis by the extra money out of your pocket to buy the car.

Bah. You want to save the Earth? Ride the bus. Better yet, ride a bike. This is a car enthusiast site. By nature, I don't see how that's anyone's number-one priority here.
Back on topic, the Accord is ugly. It's too big, too, anymore the Civic appeals to me more.
The technology on the hybrid is interesting, and the numbers look good, but if you break down in TwoDot, Montana, can you get it worked on? Or are you just screwed? Will it run if the battery system fails? Or will the computer say no? How's resale value going to be on a car that, without a warranty, will result in repair bills that will leave you f'd in the a?
Just some thoughts...

I get the feeling you're having a difficult time coming up with your nitpicks. We're talking about Honda here. The legend in reliability. They wouldn't release a car if they knew that hadn't worked out 99.9% of the bugs. They know a thing or two more about hybrid technology than we do. BTW, the batteries have an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty. -SAV

Not nitpicks, just thoughts. BTW, any carmaker can produce a lemon. It happens. The Honda dealer has a service department, right? I didn't think Fords blew up with 65k miles on them, either. 8 year/80,000 miles? Bah. I've put 65k on the Bravada in 2 years, 4 months. Yeah, I drive a lot. So I would be concerned about my trade-in value being less than a regular Accord. I would be concerned about getting straight burned by out-of-warranty repairs while I am still paying for it. I also do a lot of driving in areas where the local shop is going to pass on repairing a hybrid. No Honda dealers nearby my home. My concerns may be different than yours, as my situation is different than yours. Truth be told, I would consider leasing a Civic Hybrid if I lived and commuted in a metro area. No Accord. I like small cars better. Until I knew more about it's resale/trade-in vlaue, I wouldn't buy.

uh, no offence gonzo, but it;s safe to say whatever the accord is worth, its more then all of your cars that you currently own, combined

That's even worse than the 8/100. Most people drive more than 10,000 miles a year and are likely to have the warranty expire before the time is up, and are less likely to be covered when the batteries need replacement (more likely to need that cost included in the cost of ownership).
Just because it's a Honda doesn't mean it never has problems. We aren't talking about bugs in the engineering, just things wearing out at inopportune moments.

seems this thread has turned into a dick measuring contest. knock it off ladies. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, regardless of view or topic. You don't need to argue cause someone doesn't understand your taste, style, lifestyle, or how you like to express yourself. The poor guy wanted opinions on the car, not opinions on everyone elses opinion.
So for the sake of the topic at hand.
For a Honda I am also might impressed. Not the best looking car, but neither is the Prius. I would consider the escape hybrid before the accord. Matter of preference of ford versus honda. No other reason. 255 hp and still getting decent gas milage isn't to shabby. I wish my car got better gas mileage. My tour seems to be seeing its days, and the next vechiles i am looking into is escape/escape hybrid, F150, or bmw m3/300 series. Now, if i get the escape, i will most likely get the hybrid, since its virtually the same vechile. Now, if my parents wouldn't run me out of the house (they believe in ford more then god somedays.) lol. So i think the accord hybrid isn't on my list to buy due to my parents being narrow minded somedays.

You didn't read the rest of the paragraph in my link that says the batteries are designed to last even longer under normal driving conditions. I for one would not be buying an Accord Hybrid for stoplight grand prix, and I doubt anybody else that does has racing in mind. If you treat a car right, it will treat you right and that's all the common sense anybody with half a braincell needs.
And I never said Honda's don't break down. The propensity of them breaking down is less likely than most other cars on the market. That's what I was suggesting.
Sometimes I wonder if any of you read before posting with the old "My opinion is 100% right." attitude.
