to pay off the car. I brought it for $4175 in Jan 03, with only 47k on it on then. It hasnt been a bad car but it could have been better, I owned it for one month and had to replace the gear selector thing $120, then radiator, sensors, few things here and there.
I'm so glad I will finally own the thing. Unfortunely I will have to fix or sell it soon. Not sure what to do yet.
It needs a new MAF, serpentine belt again as well, the IAC valve has to be replaced, EGR needs to be cleaned. The passanger side headlight assembly is cracked again, looking at $40 for another replacement one, time for a coolant flush now to, getting currently about 22mpg, due to the MAF being bad.
Looks like to keep it going I will need about $300-$350.

Cool, congrats. Mine is paid off in March, cant wait.

Look at it this way, $300-500 is cheaper than buying a new car.

correct and correct.

perhaps i should ignorantly suggest that his car is so dumpy that he will probably be grateful to be rid of it.....hmm, decisions decisions

22mpg isn't that far off from what these cars get and whats 350 bucks? 2 months worth of payments? If that fixes all the major problems for awhile then thats nothing

When you own an 8 year old vehicle you should expect to fix things on it. Cars don't last forever, they need fixing and love.

That's less than the cost of a new car's monthly payment. The cost of full coverage insurance is another expense for a new car. New cars are not always better.
