i have a 2000 v6 contour auto
There seems tobe something worng it the engine. The computer says not thing is wrong with the car. But when the car is in nutral or park and i start reving the engien around 4000 rpm and a above the car starts to shake. Theres also whit smoke coming from the exshut header. THe smoke is whit and smells like burnt oil or rubber. It happens when i step on the gas. But the funny thing is is happen before when it was around 2000rpm and i just kept my foot on the gas and the smoking stoped, i thought the smoking stop for good but when i took it up to 5000rpm it happen again.

Please Help

it's callled rev limiter. the car should not shake, but the engine will.

smoke part belongs in troubleshooting

White smoke could be a blown headgasket, meaning it is burning water and antifreeze.

Are you sure that it is white? Take a look at the coolant resovior and see if it looks milky or not.

Black or grayish smoke would indicate that the motor is running rich.


Rev limit, aka fuel cut in neutral or park is at 4000rpm.

how much do you think its going to cost to repair the blown headgasket

I does sound like a blown headgasket. As for cost, it depends how much damage(if any) there is to the engine.
