Some predictions put it over 400,000. I am sure that number is inflated for shock value. A tragedy yes, but I hope the U.S. doesn't go crazy with the aid to them because of all the press attention it's getting.

zgendron- The federal government gave FL that ammount of money because it's one of our 50 states. I don't get it, we are supposed to stand by when other countries threaten us, but boy when it comes to handing out the aid everyones hands are extended over the Atlantic and Pacific to our pockets. Fact is it is not our sole responsibility to take care of these people. I am glad to see we have a coalition of countries helping us, but we all know where a majority of the money will come from, us. Where are all the arguments about the national debt or the surplus that is no more?
