exactly. as the wave reaches shallow water, the energy in the wave is concentrated more and more. beyond the continental shelf, the effects of the wave are hardly felt.






You are still going to feel a 30ft swell, and on the Weather Channel the wave was reported to be moving at 400-500 mph . Trust me, you will feel that one.



It's not 30' until it gets close to land. It was probably no more than a couple feet high out in the ocean, maybe just a few inches high.
