No wonder you are so desperate for a good team. When are they going to fire Paterno before he sends PSU even farther down the crapper?

Hey buddy u need to call a tow truck to come pull your head out of your ass. This whole thread is talking about PRO football NOT college.

No, this thread was about Peyton Manning and Farve until you and a few others started in with your foolishness. Until the Steelers beat NE in the playoffs, they are the best all around team. They have one of the top defenses and an excellent offense. Since you are Chilly the statman, you probably know that the Steelers beat NE when they didn't have the key to their offense in their lineup. And I thought we already cleared up the misconception that Ben didn't have a perfect game this year?

I'm happy for you that you have such a hardon for your team, but jeebus there are 4-5 other teams that have as good of a shot as the Steelers do.

I think that's what a lot of us here are wondering about you. Who are you and what did we do wrong to deserve you joining us?

How about the Steelers? With their fancy #1 ranked rushing offense... sure sounds like the key to beating them would be to stop the run!

Make that #2 Rushing offense.

The Dolphins showed that if you put pressure on Brady and our able to have a productive offensive game of your own then you will beat the Patriots.

Gee, did you just come from football 101? Can you name any teams where the key to beating them isn't putting pressure on their QB????? dumbass

Well known that the pats lack a defense? well known by who, the three teams that rank ahead of them in scoring defense??? Yes, the steelers have the number one scoring D at 15.1 pts/game but the pats are 4th at 16.9
Factor in the Pats 4th best offense at 27.7/ game vs the steelers at 22.9/ game and I don't see how you can say "your" team is better than "mine". And if i'm not mistaken didn't a previous post say that the pats were one dimensional???? So one dimesional that they are ranked #4 on offense and defense!!!!!

fist of all you forgot one important factor...you forgot the NFC (you know the OTHER half of the NFL) This being said the Pats rank 6th in the NFL where the Steelers rank 2nd in the NFL in pts/game.

However yards/game given up is a better representation of how good the defense is.....not pts/game. Points per game takes into the oposing teams strong points and weaknesses too much, such as red zone scoring % etc. Which is why yards/game is used to determine "the overall" best defense which again is the Steelers. (Since I know you've been going to ESPN.com to try to come up w/ stats to fight against the Steelers, why do you think when you click on "overall" in the defense category the default setting is set at yards/game. hint hint thats how they calculate the best overall D)

The Pats rank 9th in the NFL in yards/game ("overall") and the Steelers rank #1 in the NFL in yards/game ("overall")

face it the Steelers are a more superior team. They beat the Pats already and will do it again. NO ONE comes through the Burgh and comes out w/ a win. NO ONE

Chill, when you start correcting people on their stats, you might want to understand them first. Widely known they don't have a defense? If anything, they are widely know as having one of the top defenses in the NFL with the most depth.

[list]
  • Total Offense NE(8) PITT(13)
  • Rushing offense NE(8) PITT(2)
  • Passing Offense NE(13) PITT (26)
  • Total Defense NE(9) PITT (1)
  • Rushing Defense NE(4) PITT (1)
  • Passing Defense NE(16) PITT(4)

Steelers held offenses to 15.1 PPG, NE held opponents to 16.9. NE forced 5 more turnovers and 6 more sacks than PITT.

Basically, these two teams are pretty evenly matched. NE had a tougher schedule which hurts some of their stats. They certainly have a better offense, and their defense is comparable if everyone is healthy. The team that would scare me the most right now in the AFC is actually Buffalo. Their defense is about as good as both of these teams and with McGahee in the backfield, they have really started tearing some teams up.

    1) I was doing this thread a favor as talking bout Farve and Manning is boring. Neither of the teams are as good as the Steelers so y not start talking about something more worth while like playoff contenders....which is where this thread went, which was an improvement.

    2) I was correcting others posted stats b/c they WERE WRONG

    3) Pats defense isn't a widely known good one. LOOK at all the stats i've posted EVEN the ones you did. C'mon man the Pats defense isn't close to touching the Steelers..give it up

    4) Thank you for pointing out that Im RIGHT again by posting your stat #'s. I love how you make a statement like "having one of the top defenses in the NFL with the most depth" then prove urself wrong by putting up stats lol. Out of the 6 categories you posted, Steelers are better in 4 of them. as well as many other teams being better then the Pats in the same categories. Not to mention the Steelers have a better record at 14-1 (oh wait thats the best record in the ENTIRE NFL too)

    5) we already talked about pts/game and how its not a as clear representation of how good a defense is. Ask ESPN why they look at yrds/gamn given up to calculate "best overall" D. which AGAIN is the Steelers. Catch up on the thread buddy.

    6) The teams are not evenly matched. Steelers are better in almost every category, plus a better record, plus already beaten the Pats...but again I keep rehashing.

    7) Ya already discussed this too....might want to check back where we talked about the schedules...Steelers playing two undefeated teams AND BEATING THEM. Cant say that for the Pats. plus the other opponets etc. etc. etc. you can read back on it b/c i dont feel like re-typing for those who cant read b4 posting. Quit riding on the excuse about having a starter out when you played the Steelers. Take a look at the Steelers injuries this season. How many starters did they lose? Casey Hampton for one (the core of the Steelers D line out for the season), Kendrel Bell a great line-backer when healthy, Staley out for what like 5 games now, Burress was out for four, plus many others. Yet we still know how to put up the W's. Quit making excuses with your teams already.

    8) as ive stated the Steelers are the superior team in the NFL, No other team in the NFL has the same amount of stats ranked as high as the Steelers. Including the Bills. Ohhh Bills have won 6 straight games...guess you forgot about the Steelers winnning 12 straight. Numbers dont lie. Time to face the music, and buy a terrible towl. It isnt to late to jump on the band wagon.

Lets see 13-2 record, defending superbowl champions, won 2 of the last 3 super bowls, 2 time super bowl MVP at QB.
I guess we are going to get blown out by Pittsburg

OMG do i really need to restate the Steelrs record (14-1) or the fact that they have made apearences in 5 Super Bowls, 4 of which came out with rings (back to back SB wins, twice) 12 straight wins, undefeated at home, all the stats to back up the Steelers superiority. yada yada yada. I never said the pats will get "blown out" but I did say they will lose.

I don't need to repeat everything any more. The proof is in the pudding. Steelers are the best team period. Every one else better tighten up their jocks b/c your in for some serious smash mouth football when you come to the Burgh. Its been said many times especially this year "Steelers are the most physical team in the NFL" hmmm that plus everything else i've said, wonder why Steelers are #1.

    One for the thumb

OMG do you really need this explained to you!??

    Steelers Superbowls:
    Wins: 1975, 1976, 1979, 1980
    Losses: 1996.

    Pats Superbowls:
    Losses: 1986, 1997
    Wins: 2004, 2002

Now PLEASE tell me how your "5 Super Bowls, 4 of which came out with rings (back to back SB wins, twice)" FROM THE SEVENTIES is possibly more relevant than two Super Bowl wins IN THE LAST THREE YEARS

    Wow, you really ARE ignorant!
