what's wrong?? i checked the wirings, fuses, and what not and no dice.. it's been that way for awhile now and it dont pick up any temp. just sits all the way to the left any ideas...???

Replace the temp sender on the thermostat housing.
Edit: $20 max, depending on where you get it from. Search old posts to find out how to install it.

beedalahi, what do you have? year, gl, lx, se, svt, engine (Zetec/4 or Duratech/6), etc.

Maybe the wire is pulled off, plugs in behind the thermostat. If you had a shorted sensor, the gauge would peg hot.

i went out to check it and it was all the way to the hot side. just realized that. so could it be a shorted sensor???
which sensor?? how do i replace??? where is it???

Unplug the sensor, the needle should go the other way. If it does, replace the ECT sensor. If not, look for short to ground on the wiring harness.

Since you have a Duratech, not sure about part numbers, location, etc. This pic should be of one, am I right?
