Funny, GM used an aluminum "dogbone" for years on their front drive cars to control torsion. It had the same purpose as the stab-o-shoc except that it was solid aluminum with rubber bushings in the ends. I'm sure the rubber bushings absorbed a lot of the shock though. It isn't technically a solid-solid mount though. If the SHO-SHOP actually sells one that has no way to absorb shock (like bushings) then I would agree that something will break on hard take-offs.
