I can conceed for the sake of argument that the actions alleged within those cases were taken by individual managers. But the decisions to NOT settle those cases and to resist them 100% of the way through trial, and to likely argue to the jury that Walmart did absolutely nothing wrong, those were NOT the decisions of a few isolated rogue managers.
So, you believe that a national chain, with hundreds of stores, should pay millions of dollars when a local manager makes the wrong decision?
Ok, let's say that you do, since you've argued this point before.
Now, that goes both ways, so if a small local company does the same thing, which many do because they cannot offer the same benefits of a large national chain, then they should also be sued for millions, correct? Well, that'd put most small businesses under right there.
I don't see why everyone is so against Walmart. I'm with Packrat here, screw unions. The entire union system has been corrupt for years, and needs fixing from within.

That's why I live in a "Right To Work" state. If you don't like your employer, quit and go to work for their competition. God, I love capitolism!

Did I ever say that? No. It was just an attempt at educating some of the members of this board. However, Wal-Mart is not an all bad place to work.

, then why was their so much community opposition to adding another Wal-Mart to the North end of Topeka? Its because Wal-Mart symbolizes all that is wrong with this country....poor pay and benefits, imported Chinese junk.
Maybe. But who is in charge of deciding whether or not the new Wal-Mart gets built? City council. Who makes up the city council? People who were elected by the population of Topeka! They were given the position to make decisions for the benefit of the city. If the community doesn't like the decisions that are made, maybe they should consider electing someone else next election.

Wal Mart has a history of coming into a town, demanding tax abatements, free utility extensions, etc. If the city management refuses, Wal Mart goes on a binge of deceit, informing citizens that the city they live in is trying to block its citizens from shopping at Wal Mart.
As was stated before, welcome to business.
Quote:
Yes, I know this for a FACT, my father was on the city commission of a town that would not buckle to the demands of Wal Mart and allow them to trample the local merchants.
See, the city commission in that town worked. It spoke up for what was 'best' for the local merchants and won. That's how business works. Sometimes we like it, sometimes we don't.
