I just got my CSVT scanned and the codes that came back were PO172 and PO175 both banks are running rich. Does that mean that I have two o2 sensors that are bad or could it be something else? If there are multiple o2 sensors that are bad, how do I tell which ones are bad?

Thanks guys, I am new to CSVT's so this is a learning experience.

Clean the MAF.
Clear the codes.
Go from there.

Want to know how to fix?
Contact Todras for a Ford service CD.

As stated cleaned the MAF.

DTCs HO2S Reference list:

-- HO2S-11 = DTCs P0171 and P0172

-- HO2S-21 = DTCs P0174 and P0175

Possible causes:

Fuel system

-- Excessive fuel pressure.

-- Leaking fuel injector(s).

-- Leaking fuel pressure regulator.

-- Low fuel pressure.

-- Contaminated injector(s)

Induction system

-- Air leaks after the MAF.

-- Vacuum leaks.

-- Restricted air inlet.

-- PCV system.

-- Fuel purge system.

-- Improperly seated dip stick.

EGR

-- leaking gasket.

-- Stuck open EGR valve.

-- Leaking diaphragm.

Base engine

-- Oil overfill.

-- Cam timing.

-- Cylinder compression.

-- Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S's.

Check air intake for leaks, obstructions and damage.

Check air filter, air filter housing for blockage.

Verify integrity of the PCV system.

Check for vacuum leaks.

Normally you would expect this to be high fuel pressure, a bad ECT, or leaky injectors.

Sometimes a bad MAF or plugged CAT will be at fault.

If it has done this since you got it you also have to suspect incorrect replacement parts.

Thanks guys, yea I may have to pick up that CD eventually. Anyway thanks for the help guys, like I said I am new to Contours I am a Camaro guy so I know a ton about those, but not so much about these.

I will check the MAF and maybe throw on a cone filter at the same time.

Thanks again

Ok well I pulled the connector and sprayed it with electronics cleaner and cleared the codes and the CEL went off for a while, but eventually came on again. I would imagine its the same codes as before. Any other ideas anyone?

Nope I didn't. What exactly do I pull to clean the element? I have never had to do this before on any of my cars so this is new to me.

Thanks for the help guys

So can anyone show me a picture of the element that has to be clean or an explanation of what exactly needs to be cleaned because the how to section didn't seem very clear to me.

Your help would be greatly appreciated because I have to get the car inspected friday so I need to have this taken care of.

Thanks again
