I think it was R&T or C&D that did a comparo between a Lambo gallardo and a V8 focus rs. They were within tenth's of a second apart in pretty much all of the tests. I think the focus totaled to about 88k and the Gallardo was about 110k. I'd totally take a focus over a lambo. Especially when the numbers are that close. Plus, why suffer the embarrasment of having everyone look at you like you're compensating for something?

That's what I'll be doing in a few years.
Do you have a better recomendation of an affordable performance project car? I know a fox body would work, but I prefer sleeper, also just prefer a focus over a fox body.

Crap loads of money being the key problem for me. I'm doing the focus as my next car as I can keep the cost less than most new cars and have a car a lot closer to what I want.

bah, that would totally ruin the handling of a miata! the front end would be way to heavy... just drop a BPT engine, pump it to 21 PSI, and you will be waisting most v8's

compensating or not, that 22k buys you alot more respect from the ladies. i don't know too many females that would pic a focus, v8 or not, over the lambo
