Using solid copper is bad for audio, that may be the first problem. ALso using proper gauge cable. While standard speaker wires are basically similar, using the wrong gauge will cause performance loss. I would bet using good size 12awg (other then Monster) would yeild the same performance and at less cost.
I would speculate this is where everyne "hears a differance" Sure if you had 18awg speaker wire and now you have 12awg, I am sure you will notice a differnce, thats a no brainer. But compare Monster Cable to even the 12awg at Home Depot, Monster's jacket will be bigger, not so sure about the copper content.
Our cable uses 294 strands of 36awg copper per conductor in ou 12awg, Monster will not have more, yet costs more....Less copper, higher cost....yep Monster is better
