Yeah, that's right, the controversial pimp is back. I didn't get the ZEX nitrous system either because I have a huge paintball tournament coming up. Instead I went and did something very stupid. I cut the resonator off. Now my car sounds like some pissed the F**k off weed wacker from the bowels of hell. Let me tell all those who aspire cutting the resonator: more power to you, but replace that resonator with something. I can only warn you that the communist, red book sounds of a fart pipe rice rocket exhaust are guaranteed. So let's skip all this clutter and get to the point. I need information, not complaining about "use the search", because I did. I would like my car to sound as close to the rumble of V8 as possible. I'm looking for a cracklingless acceleration and have $400 to spend. I've heard about glass packs, replacing the reso. with a muffler... no one really vouched their opinion about the sounds. Feel free to express it here, because I need your help. My car sounds like crap, and it's killing me. Tell me what you think about removing the mufflers? How about tips, what size should they be? What about these x pipes and y pipes? How about the tips with resonators in them? If anyone out there has sound clips that work that would help me a hell of a lot. And remember I'm going for that V8 sound or anything close to it. Thanks

My car sorta sounds like a V8 when idling, but once you get on the gas, you know it's a low-displacement motor. You're not gonna get V8 sound out of a 2.5L V6. If you've got $400 to spend, you won't get much. With that kinda cash, plan on keeping your stock piping, and just replacing the mufflers and the resonator that you took out. If you're gonna spend that much, spend $200 more, buy a X-pipe, two glasspacks, and run true duals all the way back. Replace mufflers w/ any high flow mufflers that fit. Again, you ain't gettn' V8 sound out of this motor. John

Yea, what John said.
For the price you want to stay in, you can get a few Magnaflows(or similar) in place of the stock muffs/res.
An aftermarket Y-pipe will just add to the raspy-ness.

Want your car to sound like a V8, **** go buy one. I think that's about the best advise you'll get.
This almost sounds like you're asking for a Beer from a glass of Water, aint gonna happen.

The only exhaust that I've heard that's anywhere close to having that "V8 burble" was Cardoc's true dual exhaust. Look up his name here and you should be able to get more info. I think he was selling exhausts for 300-500$ depending on whether you wanted aluminized or stainless pipes (i think...)
Hope this helps...

Hmmm...same sound, opposite muffler positions? Anyway, just try putting something straight through in place of your mufflers. It'll help. EDIT: by straight through, I mean a muffler...not just piping.

Check with L8 Apexing Aussie. If his Super Trapps are still for sale, buy them. He was asking $200.oo I believe. He can also hook you up with a Magnaflow bullet to use as a res. I HIGHLY doubt you'll be dissapointed with the results. I would expect after shipping etc., you would have around $100.oo or so of your "$400.oo" budget left to go towards install.
