to be clear... 2-2.5 launch.. would bog..
4K would spin and hop MASSIVELY if you dumped the clutch.

Well even if the guy didn't get wheelhop dropping the clutch like that and soon as the wheels stop spinning and get traction....that could be the end of the diff anyway!

i didnt say drop the clutch at 2-2.5K, i said slip the clutch. While your slipping the clutch, floor it.

it is more of a rev/slip/gas. stage high in the box and start the slip before the bottom light goes. you will be moving forward a bit when the final green goes then you will feel a heavy feeling in your head when you know it is the right time to get totally off the clutch and gas to the floor. practice.

I understand that you did not suggest to dump the clutch.. I was referencing the previous post stating that you should DUMP the clutch at 4k...
slipping at 2-2.5 is ideal, for me, as well..

absolutely, 2.5k and give it most of the clutch and gas all at once, then feed in the rest of both to keep it at the edge of wheelspin. Takes a bit of practice, but I am getting mid 8s with lousy tires. Burning up the clutch may cost mileage, but it's a lot smoother way to eat up the excess power than bouncing the engine against the mounts.

2.0's with DR's maybe.. My best is a 2.13 60' with street tires.. Just rev the motor up to ~2500rpms, let the clutch out until you JUST start to feel it grab and keep it there.. Light turns green and you start to ride the clutch out while staying in the gas to keep the rpm's in that 2500-3000 rpm range.. As the clutch is almost fully engaged your rpm's should be in the 3000-3200 range(right in the range of secondaries for those who have them).. From there it's all a matter of shifting, and if you granny shift then it doesn't matter what 60' times you cut, your times are still gonna fall..

Well, I didn't mean literally DROPPING the clutch at EXACTLY 4K RPM! I have an auto neway, so I was actually refering to an automatic. What I meant was u gotta have the needle halfway up the tach and take advantage of the engines mid RPM hp. And my tranny's survived several 4K RPM launches, including those of it's previous owner in those 100K+ miles on it. Which is more than I can say 4 the engine and lower control arm mounts unfortunately! But those were trashed when I got it. Maybe I'm just lucky?
