i was wondering if someone can explain why 2004 honda accord with a i4 160hp/160lbs tq engine weight being 3100-3200lbs with a 5spd can reach 60 in 7.6-7.9?

when a v6 contour 5spd supposbly can't and a svt does it in 7.4-7.6

yet both contours weigh less and have more hp/tq than the honda

i got this info from consumer guide

it just seem some cars weigh more have less power yet can be faster than cars lighter and with more power

like a jetta vr6 6 spd is rated 200hp/195tq yet does 0-60 7.5

way more hp/tq than the honda and lighter

svt contour does 0-60 in 6.9-7.2 secs.

non svt 170 hp contour does 0-60 in 7.7 sec.

car and driver tested both the V6 contour and cougar at 7.7 seconds. Cougar is heavier too.

my first guess is that you need to dyno the cars and see what kind of power they are really making. Perhaps your car is F***ed up if its running 9's???

what do you mean gearing i noticed 2nd is very short

also i saw a gear set for mtx-75 for the ford focus from steede perfromance.

maybe im launching wrong when i do my 0-60 run i don't rev the engine and go

am i suppose to rev it up and release so the tires spin etc?

yeah its called launching. you should be launching at about 2500 rpm or so, low enough to prevent excessive spin and wheelhop, but as high as possible without those happening. specific launch rpms vary vehicle to vehicle so you will have to practice and find what is ideal for you.

if you are launching like you are pulling away from a stop sign no wonder your times are slow!
