i went to the track tonight, and all i could get was a 10 flat. conditions were just about perfect exceptfor the track itself...it has got to be one of the worst i have ever seen. i was in full steet trim...maybe i should have put the stock wheels back on instead of the 19's.

how much better do you think my times would be with the smaller lighter wheels?

PS. this was 1/8 mile only...the nearest 1/4 is 2 hours away!

That's sounds particularily slow man...

Maybe the 19's just SUCK ASS DUDE!

Personally I don't even think they look good but hey that's just me...

My slow boat does 8's.

My slower 2.5L did mid 9's.

I think Zetecs run in the 10's.

Heck the wife's Z24 ran 10.1 and it's a 4 banging slushbox.

Yea 19's weren't a good idea to take to the track. The 6 does it in 9.5 and the SE did it in 9.6.
6 had 17's, and the SE ran stock 15's.
Put your stockies back on, take anything unnecessary out, and do it again. I can guarantee at least a half second improvement

Oh yea, if you put those stock wheels on you almost don't want to put on the 19's again. They will ride a million times better, and you will feel a whole lot quicker.

i know i know it sounds really slow but...i have ran a 9.8 before...and that was before the torsen, headers, clutch, optimized TB,heat sheild for intake, etc...

i guess the wheels really suck! or i forgot how to drive!

Where in SC are you? I am in NC, Asheville. We should meet up man.

The additional performance parts should definilty put you well into the 9s. How is your traction?

What kind of 19" wheels do you have? Is very possible the weight of them alone is whats killing you, not to mention the low profile tire's inablility to provide flex during hard launches.

I have centerline rpm 19" which weigh only 14.5 lbs. They definitly feel better than the stock 20lb cougar 16s.

i am from hardeeville,sc. i am adam's freind that you sold the CAI to at the DSN meet last summer. i have icon w62's 19 by 7. i have nitto 555 225/35/19 tires. i will have to weigh them to see to see how much heavier they are than the stock ones, but when i was putting them on the car they did not feel that much heavier...we'll see.

1. The sidewall flex on any high performance low profile tire is negligable. Regardless of section width or rim size.

2. It's not just the weight but the placement of the weight. The moment of inertia is exponentially greater based on radius verses mass. (i.e. the larger diameter normally outweighs the weight loss unless the weight loss is extremely substancial)
Also consider the tire weight as well. It is not just the rim's weight.

So even with a 5.5lb drop in weight the 19's would still be a bit harder to get moving.
17-18lb 19's would be harsh.
20+ lb 19's

If you like the look of 19's then have at it but they do nothing but degrade both acceleration and handling performance.

anyone know the difference in the weight of a stock cougar 16"wheel and a 15" wheel...and would the difference be great enough for an advantage at the track?
