you have to go through the steps like you are actually going to order a plate. then, you can have fun trying all the wacky ideas you can come up with.  i remember the "good old days" when you actually had to go to the DMV and flip through their books to see if your plate was available. and even then, it didnt necessarily mean it was cuz the books were update every January.
