Not true.

MAF's are calibrated to the injectors.

SVT MAF = 19lb
Non SVT = 16lb

SVT MAF's can be found at Fordpartsonline.com for ~$90
Pro-M 75mm for twice that (and well worth it IMO!)[/b]
Here's how the OEM MAF specs work (I can't talk to aftermarket units).

For a given year, the MAFs ARE the same between SE and SVT. In fact, the same unit (part #97BB-12B579-AA) is used for all 98/98.5/99 V6s. The injector calibration diffs are internal to the EEC.

For 2000, things changed. The Contour got a new fuel system, with a new injector type. So the MAF changed for all 2K V6 models, part # F6DF-12B579-EA. But again, it was a global change.

So you don't have to worry about SVT/non-SVT, just don't mix 2000 and pre-2000 MAFs.

Clear as mud?
