When someone yells and screams to use the search feature, just push it aside. Being new, you probably didn't notice it sitting at the top of the page.

The SVT has the following over the standard models:

- body kit
- better seats (they are Recaro in Europe, over here, they call them Ford)
- white-faced guages (higher speedo)
- no speed limiter
- smaller front anti-roll (sway) bar
- stiffer valving on the struts
- stiffer springs
- unique wheels
- higher compression (different pistons)
- longer lift cams
- polished (called Extrude Honed) intake manifold
- heavier duty fuel injectors
- larger lower intake manifold (late models)
- conical filter and less restrictive airboxes
- larger throttle body
- larger exhaust, split into two pipes at the tail
- lightened flywheel
- higher capacity cooling system
- oil cooler
- engine torque limiter
- larger front discs
- different clutch lining
- SVT Badges wink thanks for reminding me Chris...

FWIW, a regular Duratec (the name of the V6 engine) produces an average of 170bhp. The SVT engine produces an average of 195bhp on the E0 (98) and early E1 (98.5), 200bhp on the E1 (99), and 205bhp for the 2000.

A lightly modded SE/LX/GL can run the same or better times down low in RPMs as they are lighter than the SVT. However, once the engines hit their sweet spot (>3500rpm) the SVT will walk away.

The SVTs are fairly rare, although you will find a large number of SVT owners posting on this board. There are also quite a few of us with non-SVT Contours. You've come to the right place for help and ideas for your car, welcome aboard! laugh

BTW, I have a PATS system and it's not an SVT...

Although it's really just a nit, I did just say "heavier", rather than heavy. I know they're not massive, but larger than ours at any rate.

Anyone have anything further to add? I'll edit my post accordingly and maybe we can have a consolidated list without the usual R&T or C&D crap in between.
